Mildred Frieden

July 16, 1926 — September 14, 2022

Kiowa

Mildred Gale Frieden (Daughhetee), daughter of Dan Daughhetee and Mary McWilliams Daughhetee, was born July 16, 1926 on a farm near Capron, Oklahoma, and departed this life September 14, 2022 at Kiowa Hospital District Manor.

Mildred had a sister, Ethel Durfee, and a beloved twin brother, Milton Dale Daughhetee, who both preceded her in death.  The family lived in Ingersol, Oklahoma for a time before moving to Hazelton, Kansas in 1932.  She attended Hazelton Public School and graduated in 1944.  In 1945 she married Joseph Jacob Frieden during his furlough while he served in the United States Armed Forces during WWII.  They celebrated 76 years of marriage together on April 23, 2021.

During Joe’s tour overseas Mildred worked in Wichita at Aero Parts and Boeing coming home over the weekends on the “Doodle Bug”.  When she learned that Joe was soon to be returning home, Mildred began working at the Hazelton Post Office.  In 1948 Joe and Mildred moved to the farm near Burlington, Oklahoma where they raised three children, David, Janice, and Danny.

Mildred accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and chose to join the Apostolic Christian Church in Burlington, Oklahoma in 1955.

In 1958 Joe and Mildred moved their family to Winfield, Kansas where Joe worked for Boeing and Mildred dedicated her time raising their three children.  She brought joy to her family members and neighbors by making beautiful birthday cakes and quilts.  Aways working with her hands, she made clothes for her children and always found something to do with her time.

After a year in Winfield, Joe and Mildred moved back to the farm in Oklahoma where Mildred loved being outdoors and being able to help Joe in the fields.  Many Friday evenings were spent with her grandchildren for slumber parties and Mildred always loved when they were all together for holidays.

Mildred is survived by children, David Frieden and wife, MJ of Las Vegas, Nevada; Janice Bahr and husband, Jeff of Hazelton, Kansas; grandchildren, Cara Neal of Redondo Beach, California, Cody Frieden and wife, Brettina of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kelly Frieden and wife, Tiffany of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Bret Frieden and wife, Baillie of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Stephanie Rinkenberger and husband, Joel of Bluffton, Indiana, Tifani Leman and husband, Jake of Aurora, Colorado, Chelsie Jones and husband, Lee of JeJu, South Korea; great grandchildren, Cameron Neal of Redondo Beach, California,  Marcos, Aaron, Diego, Cruz, Ithan and Eric Rinkenberger of Bluffton, Indiana, Connor, Cyrus, Maya and Ruby Leman of Aurora, Colorado, Rylee, Walker and Baby Jones of JeJu, South Korea, Olivia and Oliver Frieden of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Audrey Frieden of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
