Lorraine Forester (Lovette) (Hardesty) (Rake) passed peacefully with her daughter, Jackie, by her bedside on April 6, 2022.  She was just shy of her 93rd birthday on April 24.

Lorraine grew up on the family farm graduating from Kiowa High School in 1947.  During those days she was active in the school band on the saxophone and as majorette for marching band as well as playing in a dance band. Lorraine had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing in various groups throughout her life and always had a saxophone and piano ready in her home.

In 1949 she married Dave Lovette and welcomed her first child, Jackie, in 1951.  A talented artist Lorraine worked to complete her Bachelor of Art in Education in 1953 from the University of Kansas.   Upon graduation she pursued her profession passion and settled in Wichita where she worked as a commercial artist and began her teaching career that spanned over 38 years at Robinson Junior High and Minneha Elementary School where her passion for teaching helped many young artists create.

She added to her family son, David, in 1958 while continuing her education with earning her Master of Art Degree from University of Wichita in 1960. From there she earned her Doctor of Education Degree in1977 moving out of the classroom and into Principalships at Buckner and Rae Woodman, Wichita’s largest elementary school.

Lorraine is remembered for her conversation and sincere kindness to everyone with always a bit of dry humor added.  Her quick wit was always a part of her in any situation.  She enjoyed visiting with others about art and had an extensive collection, many of which were her own paintings and drawings.
