Donald Ransom

January 12, 1947 — May 4, 2022

Oklahoma City, OK

Donald 'Don' Ray Ransom, resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Wakita, Oklahoma, and Enid, Oklahoma, passed away at age 75 on May 4, 2022, surrounded by family in San Antonio, Texas.

Don was born in Anthony, Kansas, on January 12, 1947, to Billy Ray and Donna Mae Ransom. He was raised near Wakita on their family farm. Don graduated from Wakita High School in 1965. After high school he went on to attend college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he received a Bachelor's Degree. He then completed his post graduate studies at Oklahoma University, where he received two separate Master's Degrees.

Don married his one true love, Donna J. Cink, on May 31, 1968. He has missed her desperately since her passing. They were blessed with fifty-two years of marriage.

He worked many odd jobs after college and also spent many years working for the Oklahoma State Health Department. After gaining years of experience, he moved the family to Enid and worked construction with his brothers before starting his own computer/accounting/software business.

He enjoyed Sci-fi, especially Star Trek and was an avid poker player. However, his biggest passion was his family.

Don is survived by his children, Rich and Candice Ransom, Frankie Unruh, Randy and Skye Ransom, Charel and Jordan Cooper, Sara Lyon and Joe,l and Jenny Lyon; his fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, with one on the way; his brothers, Rod, Jerry and Curly; a host of nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Ray and Donna Mae Ransom and his wife, Donna Joyce Ransom.

He will be forever remembered for his friendly spirit, his incredible brilliance, and his ornery sense of humor. His family was truly his proudest asset.

Don's funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Medford, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery north of Medford. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford.
