Dixie was born to the late Hubert and Hazel (Camp) McDowell on December 28, 1938 in Kilgore, Texas. She departed this life on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at her home in Cleo Springs surrounded by her family. She was treasured dearly and brought love, life, and laughs to all who knew her.

She took great pride in serving the City of Cleo Springs for over 28 years. During that time, she received the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk Treasurer and Court Clerk following completion of the IIMC program at OSU in Stillwater. She was a member of the Oklahoma Municipal League, Oklahoma Association of Clerks, Treasurer and Finance Officers, Oklahoma Court Clerk Association, and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Previous to her municipal position, Dixie was employed by Shrum Enterprises, Ringwood Well Service, Brinson Dozer Service, Weber Trucking and Livestock Transport, Weber’s Auto, Truck and Tractor, and the Dutch Cup Café.  She was a member of the Cleo Springs United Methodist Church holding the Secretary Treasurer position for numerous years.

She had a great love of music and dancing and was a dedicated mother and grandmother.  During retirement she enjoyed baking pies, cooking bread for others, watching basketball, having morning coffee with her friends, and spending time with her beloved dog, Nicki.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Hazel McDowell;  brother, Hubert McDowell; sister, Betty Johnston;  daughter, Glenda Kraus, and son, Bobby Dixon.

Dixie is survived by grandchildren, Jason and Christina Dyer of Aline, Jack Dyer of Cleo Springs, and Matthew Dixon of Rialto, California; great grandchildren, Shaianne and Dalton Holsapple, Jenna Dyer and Matthew E. Dixon; great great grandchild, Tyler Holsapple.

Memorials may be made to Aline Christian Church through the funeral home.
