Dale Lee Straw

Dale Straw was born October 5, 1934, west of Alva to Pete and Eliza Straw, one of ten children. He moved south of Ringwood when he was five. He lived there until he was fourteen years old, when he moved to the Texas Panhandle to work on an oil rig. They found out that he wasn’t sixteen, so they let him go. Dale and Opal had two children: Ray and Arlene. They were married for 61 years until Opal passed away from a stroke. Dale loved fishing and helping people. His hobby was making lamps out of wood and giving them to people. He made approximately 450 lamps. He loved little kids and was always giving them rides on his wheelchair.
