Cathy Voss was born May 4, 1951, in Enid to parents, Earl Lee and Deloris McCart and passed from this life on Thursday, January 5, 2023.  She grew up on her family’s farm near Pond Creek.  Cathy and Henry Voss were married in 1973 and became parents of Lindsay in 1980 and Jake in 1984.  They made their home in Goltry.

Cathy was a dedicated teacher and spent many years in the classroom beginning at Carrier Junior High in 1973.  When Carrier closed, she taught at Chisholm High School until 2004.

In the fall of 2004, Cathy moved to the Wichita, Kansas area where she was a guidance counselor at Campus High School in Hayesville for ten years. Cathy retired in 2015 and moved to Stillwater. Being an avid Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, Cathy enjoyed supporting the OSU athletic teams. She ensured that every grandchild in the family had ample OSU Pokes gear.

Having taught world history for many years, Cathy loved to travel the world exploring ancient ruins and learning about new cultures. She and her sister, Terry, traveled together through Western and Eastern Europe and visited many other countries including Tunisia, Thailand, and Laos. In addition to her teaching career and travels, Cathy was best known for her famous chocolate chip cookies and peanut brittle.

In her early years, Cathy was a talented singer consistently earning top scores at local and state music contests. Later in life, she loved playing 5-point pitch, her favorite card game, and going dancing with her friends. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of the Goltry Congregational Church and an honorary lifetime member of the Chisholm High School FFA.
