Wanda Lou “NuNu” Bierig, 95, went to meet our Lord and Savior on May 26, 2025, in Okeene, Oklahoma. Wanda was born on the Bierig Centennial Farm on October 26, 1929, to Harry Leonard and Edith Metzler Bierig north of Okeene.
Wanda attended Deep Creek School and lived her life as a devoted homemaker and a loyal helper to her brother on the family farm. Her days were full, helping Joe and Beverly on the farm working cattle, riding along to make sure everything got done. She also lent a hand washing dishes for the family’s wedding cake business.
Known affectionately as “Nunu,” Wanda leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who called her daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her radiant smile, joyful spirit, and compassionate heart captivated everyone who was blessed to know her.
People ask how Wanda got the nickname “Nunu.’ It began with her first great niece Jessica, and it stuck. From then on, she was simply Nunu to everyone, even the staff at the hospital and nursing home staff called her by her nickname.
Wanda is survived by her brother, Joe Lee and sister-in-law, Beverly Bierig of Enid; her niece, Tammie and husband, Scott Conaway of Ringwood; her niece, Connie and husband, John Wood of Fairview along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Summer Health of Okeene for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Nunu over the past few years, The staff’s compassion and support were truly a blessing.
A private family Celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at a later date at the Bierig Cemetery.
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21
