Terry Ewing, 81, of Alva, Oklahoma, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Kiowa, Kansas. He was born on May 16, 1944, in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Herb and Doris (Beaty) Ewing.
As the son of a coach, Terry moved often during his childhood, attending several schools across Oklahoma and Kansas before eventually graduating from Fairview High School in Fairview, Oklahoma. He was baptized in the Chikaskia River near Milan, Kansas and later attended NWOSU. Terry proudly served four years in the National Guard.
Terry spent his early working years with a phone company in Kansas, working at sale barns, and enjoyed raising and working with horses. He always knew he wanted to farm, and when the opportunity came, he followed that calling. For more than 50 years he farmed north of Capron, Oklahoma, doing the work he loved.
He was also the bass singer of the Ewing Family Singers, a gift he shared throughout his life. In his later years, when health made things difficult, he was blessed with wonderful friends who stepped in to help. Terry continued to go to Capron for coffee time as long as he could. Something that he treasured most.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Doris Ewing; brothers, Doug and Jack Ewing; sister; Sheryl Mckee; and son, Kelly Ewing.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Ewing of the home; daughter, Jolinda Holt; step-daughters, Jenett Blevins and husband Jack; Terza Schurter and husband Rusty, Shana Coggins and husband Mike; sister, Sandra Luginbill; grandchildren; Jenni Schermuly and husband Jeff, Jed Blevins and wife Cydney, Savanah Coggins, Chelsz Loving and husband Will, Zak Schurter and wife Mary Grace, Zeb Schurter and wife Anna, Zane Schurter and wife Kayleigh, Andrew Holt, Terry Holt, and numerous great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Among the memories his family cherishes most, is hearing Terry sing "Why Me, Lord?" - a song he performed with a humble and steady grace. His love, kindness, and quiet strength will continue to guide and comfort those who knew him. His legacy will live on in the family he adored, the land he tended, and the faith that carried him though all the years.
