Stewart Jon Ott went to his final home on September 03, 2021. Stewart was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior, his Granny, his dog, Lucy, and so many other loved ones who have put their trust in Jesus.
Stewart is survived by his mother, Konnie Lukins; his father and step-mother, Jon Ott and wife, Barbara; brother, Luke Ott; step-sister Sarah McKenney. Stewart is survived by a whole world of friends who loved him like a brother. To know Stewart was to love him.
Stewart was born to Jon and Konnie Ott on June 30, 1991 in Enid, Oklahoma.
From his first breath to his last, Stewart was remarkable.
Wherever Stewart was, fun was happening. Wherever Stewart was, something good was going on.
He was honorable, courageous, strong, and valiant. He was bigger than life.
As a child, Stewart was involved in every sport available, but football was what he really loved. He was extremely active in many aspects of 4-H and was indispensible to his mom as he grew up helping with the family cow herd. He spent his childhood, swimming, fishing, helping on the ranch, riding horses, playing football, having paintball wars, all involving his brother and his many friends.
Stewart grew up to graduate from South Barber High School. He was president of his class from junior high through high school. Also, he was a most talented public speaker, winning first place at State Forensics as a sophomore with an agricultural speech, which, at that point, was a feat, both for a person of his young age and the subject matter, neither of which had never been accomplished.
Growing up Stewart was involved in every sport available, but football was what he really loved. He was a great football layer with countless football awards and accomplishments. In eighth grade he attended a Darrin Sproles Football Camp in Platt, where he was named Outstanding Player. Later in the year he broke his elbow playing, but despite the lifelong injury he pursued football. In high school he was named All State 8-Man 1st Team and selected to play in the Kansas 8-Man All Star Game, Kansas-Nebraska All Star Bowl Game, and the K-101 Bowl Game. He was invited by Kansas State University to walk-on, but decided to play collegiate ball at Friends University and Coffeyville Junior College, where an injury hindered future playing.
For a few years, Stewart bummed around Colorado with his brother, Luke. Somehow Luke talked Stewart into living in an RV near Boulder.
Those two lived more in those months than most people live in a lifetime. That old RV is still somewhere near Boulder, as they had to abandon it during a winter flood.
Then, there was Winter Park, Colorado…. Lovely, lovely Winter Park.
Stewart and Luke went up there to work for a ski/river rafting resort company and lived with a bunch of other ski/rafting bums: it was an endless adventure.
Winter Park can be unbelievably cold, so Stewart went back to school to warm up.
He graduated from Colorado State University in December of 2018 with a degree in Natural Resources and Environment.
Then, Stewart came back home to Hazelton and was working toward someday taking over his mom’s ranching operation.
While striving toward that goal, he was accumulating hours toward a pilot’s license and was employed by several farmers/ranchers, where he absolutely loved working with lifetime friends. As if all of this wasn’t enough, because he was so incredibly gregarious, he was also employed at the local and amazing Plum Thicket Inn in Kiowa. He truly was everyone’s favorite bartender.
There are gazillions of quotes out there that Stewart loved to share, but he put this one on his arm.
Psalm 27:3-4
Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
