Shirley M. Skaggs was born August 2, 1926 to parents, Harvey Preston Crites and Ida Evelyn Maskes Crites near Hawley and passed from this life on July 7, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Braman. She married the greatest love of her life, Eugene R. Skaggs, February 3, 1945 and she became a wife who helped her husband in the ministry and a mother who dearly loved her family. As a member of the Southern Baptist Church, her church and the Christian fellowship that she experienced through the meals and special trips that the church took them on filled her with joy. She spent much of her time crocheting and working puzzles. She also had cats and dogs who were special to her.

Those who have preceded her in death are her husband, Eugene; her parents, Harvey and Ida Evelyn Crites; two brothers, Leslie and Loyd Crites and a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Pryce.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are two children, Judy A. Neal and husband, Dale E. of Braman and Larry Skaggs and wife, Candy of Nash; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Kimzey and husband, Delvin of Elk City, Kansas.
