Scott Robert Becker

Sep 11, 1956 — Oct 6, 2026

Kiowa, Kansas

Scott Robert Becker, 70, of Kiowa, Kansas, passed away on October 6, 2026.  He was born in Waukegan, Illinois.  Scott was the son of Robert Lester Becker and Virginia Margaret Becker. He grew up in the Chicago area, where he developed the curiosity, independence, and love for all things interesting that shaped his life. He spent time with his father at the family business, Credit Systems, and then went on to live a life that rarely took the ordinary route.

Texas is where Scott met Sue, his wife of forty years and the love of his life. His work in radio took him to international waters, where he hosted a pirate radio station, as well as to radio stations in Maine and Florida. Scott showed his love for Sue in steady, everyday ways, including dutifully preparing her coffee each morning.

Scott was proud to serve his community through the volunteer fire department, the Shriners, and the Masonic Lodge. One of Scott’s greatest joys was time with his best buddy, his grandson, Paxton. He loved randomly stopping by to pick him up and heading out for a new place to eat or an adventure. They made special memories together at the “Fancy House”, collecting water from the artesian well, and simply seeing where the day might take them. The family’s Colorado birthday trip was another favorite memory.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Becker; his daughters, Katie Hughes and husband, Jay, and April Antoniou; his grandchildren, Paxton Hughes, Aiden Rodriguez, V Rodriguez, and Sebastian Scott Rodriguez; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Becker, and his son, Brandon Becker.

He will be remembered for his love of cars and racing, all things radio, and the way he made life a little more interesting for the people he loved. As Scott would say: onward and upward.

Graveside services for Scott will be Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa. Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc. Website: www.lanmanfuneralhome.com
