Rusty Atkinson, a dedicated and hardworking man known for his outgoing nature and willingness to help anyone, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Oklahoma City. Born on November 27, 1963, in Enid to Robert and Lorraine (Morgan) Atkinson.

A graduate of Pioneer High School in 1983, Rusty chose a path in the oilfield industry, dedicating his entire professional life to this demanding field. He worked for multiple companies over the years, for the last 20 years serving as a foreman for Silver Arc Welding.

In 1985, Rusty married Tammy Patterson, and from this union, they were blessed with three children: Tabitha, Jesse, and Alyssa. He was further blessed with his grandchildren, Keenan, Chloe, Sutton, Kelsey, Vaeyda, Tatum, and Vivian. Throughout his life, Rusty found joy in sharing and supporting their sports and activities.

Later in life, Rusty found great companionship with Becky Rush, who survives him along with his children. Tabitha Bernitsky and her husband, Joey, Jesse Atkinson and his wife, Crystal, and Alyssa Atkinson all carry forward his memory, Rusty is also survived by his brother, Bobby Atkinson, supported by their extended family and friends. His legacy extends beyond his immediate family to all those whose lives he touched with his generosity and kindness.

Rusty was a man of many interests that enriched his life and brought him happiness. Enthusiast of Harley motorcycles, a hunter, fisherman, and golfer, he was a vibrant individual who embraced the pleasures of the outdoors and the bonds of friendship and family. He also loved his goats, specifically his beer drinking buddy, Edward the goat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Atkinson and Lorraine Watson, and siblings, Chris Atkinson, Cindy Bailey, and her husband, Les Bailey; nephews, Tanner Bailey and Dax Atkinson.

A come and go celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Enid, where friends and family are invited to come and share memories and fellowship in honor of Rusty. There will also be a motorcycle ride starting at 9:30 a.m. from Hutches and going to the Moose Lodge before the celebration of life service.
