Renard Russell Miller (Russ), 85, of Bartlesville passed away in his sleep on December 26, 2017 in Oklahoma City.
Funeral service will be held at Lanman Funeral Home in Helena on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dean Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery, Helena. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Russell was born in St. Francis, Kansas to Renard and Mary Miller on April 11, 1932. He graduated from Helena High School in 1952. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served as a corporal from 1952 – 1954. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. After twenty-two months he returned home and earned an Associate’s Degree in engineering from Oklahoma A&M, which is now Oklahoma State University. He worked as a purchasing inspector for Phillips Petroleum for twenty-eight years. Russell was very involved in First Christian Church in Bartlesville as a deacon and facilities coordinator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and baseball. He was very proud of his family: his two boys, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He loved seeing pictures and hearing stories of their adventures. His wife, Wilma, was his one true love. They met in middle school and have been married 65 years.
Russell is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Renard Miller of Helena; his mother, Mary Billington Miller of Helena and his sister, Helen Miller Spino of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Russell is survived by his wife, Wilma Ann Galer Miller of Bartlesville; his sister, Katherine Miller Sturgeon and husband, Lynn (Red) Sturgeon of Meno; his son, Gregory Russell Miller and his wife, Mary Burton Miller of Mustang; his son, Kerry Alan Miller and his wife, Pamela Miller of Tulsa; his grandsons, Jeremy Michael Miller of Chicago, Illinois, Russell Lee Miller and his wife, Melissa Mcclarin Miller of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Jonathan Patrick Miller of Dallas, Texas and Kristopher Alan Miller of Mustang; his granddaughter, Rachel Miller of Tulsa and his great granddaughter, Clementine Lael Miller of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
