Robert Young

Robert was born on September 23, 1937 and died peacefully on March 17, 2026. Robert was born and raised in Cherokee, Oklahoma and graduated from Cherokee High School. He served two years in the US Air Force, stationed throughout Turkey, Europe and Asia. After returning to Cherokee (and in between runs to the Dinette for coffee and a bear claw) he worked as an electrician for White’s Electric, a lineman for the city of Cherokee and retired from the State of Oklahoma prison system, the Army National Guard and Cherokee’s volunteer fire department.

He is survived by his daughter, Glenna Bevin; ex- wife, Patricia Young; sister, Nina Coldwater; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, David Young; parents, Roy and Opal Young; brother, Gene Young and two granddaughters, Leslie and Brittiney.

Robert loved to joke and play pranks, and he never met a stranger. He loved his family, a good breakfast and “one more coffee for the road”.

He will be missed.

Graveside service will be Monday, March 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Viewing will be before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Lanman Chapel.
