Richard Andrew Cornell

July 23, 1949  -  September 30, 2021

Richard Andrew Cornell was born July 23, 1949 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Troy A. and Freda F. Cornell.  He attended Crooked Oak High School until the summer of 1966 when his family moved to Ringwood following their dad where he was working at the time.  They loved it so much they stayed.  After Richard graduated from Ringwood High School in 1967, he attended drafting school in Oklahoma City for one year.  Then Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from February 1969 to September 1970, serving in Vietnam from July 1969 until the time of his discharge.  While in Vietnam, he was the driver of the “Mighty Mini” gun truck.  After his return, he joined his father laying pipeline and farmed with both his father and mother.  After several years, he went to work at Pioneer Gas Plant (now Mustang) south of Ringwood and worked there until his retirement.

Richard is a member of Ringwood Masonic Lodge 554, Fairview Masonic Lodge 377, Enid VVA Chapter 940, American Legion Post 0340 Ames.  Richard also rode several times with the Patriot Guard.

Richard enjoyed taking trips on the trike with Jayniece, and getting to see a lot of the U.S.A. His last trip was with just the guys.

Richard is survived by Jayniece, his wife of 48 years; son, William Cornell and spouse, Ryan of Ringwood; daughters, Juliann Pollard and spouse, Tyquan of Enid and Elizabeth Reicks and spouse, Derek of northwestern Michigan; father, Troy Cornell of Ringwood; sister Linda Sodowsky and spouse, Lynn of Ringwood; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandson and many other family members.
