Doug Foltz

March 1, 1931 — May 9, 2025

Jet, OK

Ramon Dougles Foltz was born in Driftwood, Oklahoma on March 1, 1931. He was the only child of John and Myrtle Foltz, was raised there and graduated from the little local school.

He married Carol Montgomery in 1950, started a family and finished his schooling graduating with a BS in industrial arts from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Doug began his teaching and coaching career in small Oklahoma schools such as May, Boise City, Gage, Mountain View, Waynoka, and Helena.

Doug spent summers harvesting wheat with his uncle Grant, building cabins with his dad, running trout lines, and teaching his four children how to water ski on the Great Salt Plains Lake.

His skill as a master carpenter and advanced teaching experience in industrial arts led the family to Garden City, Kansas where Doug took a position as Associate Dean of Vocational Technical Training at Garden City Community College. He established Foltz Construction Company, building custom homes with his sons while Carol ran the Trailways bus station. After moving to Wichita, Doug continued in the commercial construction industry building Quick Trip convenience stores and a dialysis center. Doug’s love of fishing led the couple to Lake Texhoma. He and Carol renovated and ran a resort on the lake and Doug became a successful fishing guide.

Doug joined his parents, wife, and son, Michael, along with many family members and friends in Heaven on May 9, 2025, at the age of 94. They are all awaiting those who have been left behind: his children, Kathy Foltz Nelson, husband, Jerry and their three sons, David Nelson, his three children, his wife, Jenny and their six children, Michael Nelson’s daughters Micah Baldaras her husband Junior and their three children, Rory Sipili, her husband Mathan and their baby boy, Doug Nelson, his wife Ashlie their daughter Avery and her little guy, David Foltz, his daughter, Laura Ballard, husband Morgan and their three children, Michael’s children, Ashlie Foltz and her three children, Jake Foltz, his wife, Tess and their two children, Marty Foltz, his wife Tammy their two children, Megan Williams, her husband, Keith and their two children, Justin Foltz and his wife, Phoebe.

Doug was a blessing to all who knew him. He was a testament to the love of our Lord, sharing Him with everyone. He and Carol were always active in their church teaching Sunday school classes and sharing his carpentry skills. We will miss Doug, but we are all grateful knowing that he is no longer suffering and basking in the light of our Father in Heaven.
