Olga Kretchmar

June 5, 1938 — August 27, 2022

Medford, OK

Olga Rose Zeman Kretchmar, 84, and long-time resident of Medford, died on August 27, 2022.  Olga was born on June 5,1938 to Rose and Frank Zeman. She grew up on a farm near Deer Creek, Oklahoma, and attended school in Deer Creek.

Olga attended her senior year of high school and graduated from Medford Public School in 1956 and attended Enid Business College. She married her high school sweetheart, L.D. Kretchmar, on December 28, 1957. After living in several places, L.D. and Olga spent most of their years raising a family in Medford where Olga was active in the community. She was involved with the Caldwell, Kansas bowling league and enjoyed square dancing in her younger years. Her children were active in the Medford Public Schools for over 28 years where she rarely missed a school function-athletic events, band events, plays-you name it, she was there. She was definitely an avid Medford Cardinal fan. Olga was active in the St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Busy Mom’s Club for many years. She loved getting together with the Busy Moms to help the community. She served on the Medford School Board for eight years. Olga also helped establish an Ambucs Club in Medford. She loved visiting with the red hat ladies in her later years.

Olga was passionate about many things, especially her friends, her children, her grandchildren, and arts and crafts. She would drive countless hours to Edmond, Dallas, and Houston to care for her grandchildren. She loved being a grandma! Olga was a great cook and made the best strawberry-rhubarb pies! She loved creating with paper mache, wood-working, painting, and crocheting. She was definitely a queen at the Grant County Fair. She was a good friend, a loving and supportive mother, a devoted wife, and the best grandma ever!

Olga is preceded in death by her father, Frank Zeman; her mother, Rose Zeman; her brothers, John, Joe, and Marvin; and her daughter, Jeanne Marie.

Olga is survived by her husband of 64 years, L.D.; her sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Tim Williams; her sons, Rick Kretchmar and Rod Kretchmar; daughters, Patricia Calmes and Lorie Mott, daughter-in-law, Sarah Kretchmar; sons-in-law, Bryan Calmes and Joel Mott; her grandchildren, Jaxon, Bryson, Emma, David, Hayden, Lorin, Truett, and Craig; and several nieces and nephews.
