Nancy Ruth Dean Haffner was born on August 14th, 1940 in Wichita, Kansa to Curtis and Beulah Dean, and passed away on April 24th, 2026, at the age of 85. She was a resident of Okeene, Oklahoma for 55 years and lived the last three years near her daughter and son-in-law, René and Gene Haub, in Orlando, Florida and then Tennessee. Nancy was married to Ron Haffner in Wichita, Kansas on June 4th, 1960. She had two children - a son, Nathan Owen born in 1961 and daughter, Rhonda René born in 1963.
Ron and Nancy owned Haffner Drug in Okeene for 30 years where Nancy ran the gift shop until they retired in 2000. She was a member of Zion Baptist church for over 40 years.
Nancy had a deep and abiding love for the Lord, her family—especially her three granddaughters—and gospel music. She was known for her contagious laugh and beautiful smile, which could brighten any room. She had a special fondness for all things red, particularly cardinals and roses. Nancy lived a life filled with love, service, and kindness, leaving a lasting blessing on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Jeanne Dean.
She is survived by her daughter, René and husband, Gene of Johnson City, Tennessee; her granddaughters, Ashley Mohns and husband, Brian of Gray, Tennessee, Allison Babb of Johnson City, Tennessee, Alesha Bray and husband, Cody of Running Springs, California; five great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church in Okeene, OK with Pastor Tim Koehn officiating.
