Marty Myers

Cherokee-Memorial service for Marty, 88, will be Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Church of Christ in Burlington.

Marty has chosen to be cremated and her remains will be laid to rest in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery beside her husband, Bethel Lee Myers. Marty was born January 7, 1927 on the Plum Blossom Farm near Lookout to William and Annie McDaniel Knabe and passed from this life at the Cherokee Manor on February 22, 2015 from cancer. She attended school at the Moundridge School and high school at Freedom. Marty married Bethel Lee Myers at Medicine Lodge, Kansas on January 29, 1947. They lived in California and Alva, Oklahoma before moving to Cherokee in 1957. Marty worked as a waitress at various restaurants and later as a bookkeeper for the Home Appliance Store for twelve years. She served as Director/Librarian at the Cherokee City and County Library and resigned in 1997. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women, Alfalfa County Democrat Women, The Salt Plains Bowling Association, The Alfalfa County Historical Society and charter member of the Salty Sam's Camping Club. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Site, Alfalfa County Museum, Cherokee Main Street/Chamber of Commerce and Friends of the Library.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Lee Myers in 2012; her parents; sister, Viola Knabe; brother, Gilbert Knabe; granddaughter, Shay Leah Myers and daughter-in-law, Trina Kay Myers.

Marty leaves to mourn, her three sons and their wives, Monty Myers and wife, Dottie of Fresno, California, Jack Myers of Cherokee, Randy Myers and wife, Mary C. of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren, Kimmy Myers Dotterer and husband, Tim of Norman, Amber Beth Myers Smith and husband, Aaron of Ponca City and Greg Myers of Elk City; two step grandchildren, John Greggs and Ning and Jamie Jones of Fresno, California; three great grandchildren, Tate Christopher Davis and Nickson James Davis of Norman and Ethan Ray Smith of Ponca City; eight step great grandchildren, Jimmy Greggs, Timothy Greggs, Brittney Greggs, Trinity Jordan, Kayla Rapp, David Ray Rapp, Addison Rapp and Ivan Bousana, all of Fresno, California.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverside Church of Christ or Friends of the Library in Cherokee.
