Leroy Boehs

March 18, 1935 — February 5, 2015

Ringwood-Funeral service for Leroy Boehs, 79, will be Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno with Pastor James Suderman officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery next to the church. Viewing will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the family present from 2:00 until 4:00.

Leroy was born on March 18, 1935 in Fairview to Pete J. Boehs and Annie Schmidt Boehs and went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2015 at his home in Ringwood. Leroy grew up in the Fairview area working with his father farming and raising cattle. He was part of a large family consisting of three sisters and four brothers. Leroy married Darlene Heikes in Fairview on December 9, 1956, and they celebrated 58 years together. Following his marriage he entered the military, serving in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and finished his service at Fort Ord, California. Upon returning to Ringwood he and his brother, Marvin resumed their cattle operation. Leroy was involved in numerous businesses, including helping to develop the Waldon loader. He owned and operated several dirt construction businesses, primarily serving the oil field. Leroy also researched and helped develop an oil play in the Misner Sands in Northern Oklahoma. Leroy appreciated time spent with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed watching the deer and turkeys that roamed on his farm.

Survivors of Leroy include his wife, Darlene of Ringwood; daughter, Cindy Nightengale and husband, Gary of Longdale; two sons, Roy Boehs and wife, Kathy of Enid and Shawn Boehs and wife, Vickie of Ringwood; special sister-in-law, Carol Hudson and husband, Carl; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Boehs and wife, Rose, Abraham Boehs and wife, Berniece and Harvey Boehs and wife, Loretta; sisters, Lydia Mae Deuck and husband, Harold and Velma Friesen and husband, Johnny; brother-in-law, Leonard Friesen and wife, Marilyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Memorials may be given to Ringwood First Responders through the funeral home.
