Leon Boyle

February 14, 1939 — June 27, 2024

Byron, Oklahoma

Leon Boyle, 85, of Byron, Oklahoma died unexpectedly, on June 27, 2024 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was born to Eugene and Viola Boyle, in Anthony, Kansas, on February 14, 1939. Leon grew up near Wakita, Oklahoma and attended Wakita schools, graduating from Wakita High School in 1957. After graduation, he worked in Wichita, Kansas for Boeing Aircraft Co. for a short period, but his love for the outdoors led him to go to work in the oil field. He married the love of his life, Betty Puffinbarger on September 7, 1960. They raised their two daughters, Debbie and Billie, in the Wakita area. Through a series of promotions, it led he and Betty to move to Oklahoma City until 1996. At that time, they chose to find a house and move back to the Wakita area for when they retired. To occupy his time during retirement, in 1996 he chose to begin his own oil consulting company, 212 Operating, Inc.

Leon was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a caring uncle and a friend to many. He had a love for bird dogs and was an avid quail hunter. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and going fishing. He had obtained his pilot’s license and in his spare time he loved flying locally on nice days and evenings in his single seat open cockpit biplane. He was known for his high expectations and his witty personality, never missing an opportunity for onery banter. While his life was unexpectedly cut short, we take peace in knowing he lived a long-fulfilled life. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and cared for him.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Tucker of Alva and Billie Boyle of Enid; four grandsons, Ty Smith, wife, Jodi and their children, Dakota and his girlfriend, Kylie and Samantha of Amorita, Jace Smith and wife, Rachael and their children, Cade, Cole, and Emma of Byron, Trae Smith and wife, Michelle and their children, Hayle, Hana, and Hope of Byron, Chantz Tucker and wife, Maddie and their children, Arthur and Deacon of Byron and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Betty; his parents, Eugene Boyle and Viola Eulberg, and his brother, Leonard Boyle.
