LaVeta Grace Vore

      LaVeta Grace Vore, 98 years old, of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, passed away August 7, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family. 

      LaVeta was an only child born November 7, 1924, to Nelson and Edna Sisson at home, southeast of Waynoka.  LaVeta then moved with her parents to Mexico where she attended her first year of school.  They then moved to the ranch west of Cleo Springs where she lived in a dugout underground for a while and then in a railroad car back in the hills, before making a home on the Hess/Stull Ranch.

      LaVeta attended grade school at Oakdale, then went on to attend school at Cleo Springs Public School.  As a young person, LaVeta was not only a ranch kid with all the responsibilities that come with that, but she was very active in 4-H where she met her late husband, Bob Vore, at the age of 15.  LaVeta loved horses, especially her horse named Nancy and her donkey, whom only LaVeta could ride.  LaVeta also spent her younger years as a baton twirler, tap dancer, and ballet dancer for entertainment at numerous schools.

      LaVeta and Bob Vore were united in marriage on August 24, 1941 and they lived together their entire life, 63 years, on part of the Old Hess Ranch.  To that union, two beautiful girls were born, Karen Vore Cell and Bonnie Vore Shaklee.

      LaVeta was not only a wonderful mother and ranchers wife who helped raise Registered Red Herefords and highly bred Race Horses, she was also a member of the Home Welfare Home Demonstration Club for many years, 4-H leader, life long member of the Dacoma Church of God, President of the Church Missionary, youth sponsor and Sunday School Teacher.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. 

      LaVeta is predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Edna Sisson and her husband, Bob Vore.

      She is survived by her daughters, Karen Cell and husband, Charly of Cleo Springs and Bonnie Shaklee and husband, Rick of Cleo Springs; grandchildren, Dustin Earnest, Taren Earnest, Chance Cell and wife, Devery, Mitsy Shaklee, Amber Green and husband, Shane, Kodee Shaklee and fiancé, Chris Orr; great-grandchildren, Siera Earnest and fiancé, Sean Doherty, Stanton Earnest, Taylor Lakey and husband, John, Bodie Cell and fiancé, Chacy, C.J. Cell, Brock Buller and wife, Kara, Bradon Buller and wife, Chloe, Braxton Buller and wife, Addison, Gentrye Nickel, Easton Nickel, Amistye Nickel, and Arabelle Cell; great-great-grandchildren, Jameson Doherty, twins, Savanah and Charlotte Lakey, Lakelyn Buller and two more great-great-grandsons on the way; numerous other relatives and friends.

      Celebration of Life Service for LaVeta will be held at Dacoma Church of God on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery west and south of Aline.  Viewing will be Friday 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.  www.lanmanfuneralhome.com  Facebook:  Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Cleo Springs Fire Department and/or Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, two organizations LaVeta felt strongly about.  These donations may be made through the funeral home.

      The family would like to extend a Special Thank You to the Fairview Assisted Living, Complete Hospice, and especially Pam O’Malley and Cole DeQuasie for the unconditional love, care, and support they showed throughout her stay away from home.
