Lavawn Nelson

June 6, 1932 — August 25, 2022

Meno, OK

Lavawn Kathryn Schultz Nelson was born at home, in Breckenridge, Oklahoma, June 6, 1932, to Paul Schultz and Alma Mohlenbrink Schultz and passed from this life on August 25, 2022 in Fairvewi.  Lavawn was the third of eleven children.

Lavawn was educated at the Lutheran Grade School in Breckenridge and graduated from Garber High School, class of 1950.  After graduation she met and married George Nelson.  George was in the Air Force.  They traveled to many posts both foreign and domestic in his twenty-seven years of service.  Lavawn and George had a son and a daughter during that time.

Lavawn was very well read.  She loved to read and enjoyed any type of puzzle or trivia.

In later life, Lavawn settled closer to family and was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  "Gram" as she was affectionately known, was always good for a sleepover, preparing favorite foods, special stories, and lots of hugs and kisses.

Lavawn's faith in God never waivered.  She was always a good example for her family.

She will be greatly missed and her memory cherished by family and friends.

Lavawn's cousin prayed with the family after Lavawn's passing, "Lord, Lavawn held out her hand and you so graciously grasped her hand and led her home.".  May we all be fortunate enough to have the same experience.

Lavawn is preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, brothers, Lloyd Schultz, Doyle Schultz, Gary Schultz, Warren Schultz, Emmitt Schultz, Roger Schultz, and sister, Barbara Johnson.

Lavawn is survived by her son, Paul Nelson (Lynn); daughter, Patricia Koehn (Steven); grandchildren, Amanda Nelson Nguyen (Kha), Sara Nelson Dorn (Jeremy), Blake Koehn, Hope Koehn Hemond (Jared), Chandler Koehn, Jackson Koehn, Chloe Koehn; five great grandchildren, with one on the way; brothers, Eldon Schultz (Connie), Vanoy Schultz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
