Laura Jantz

November 26, 1927 — January 22, 2018

Meno-Funeral service for Laura will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno. Burial will follow at New Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery in Meno. Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Laura was born on the family farm six miles northeast of Goltry to Sam and Marie Koehn Pjesky. She was the third of four children: one brother, Alvin Pjesky and two sisters, Lillie Reimer and Mildred Long. Laura attended Spring Valley #13 Grade School and graduated from Goltry High School in 1945.

On July 25, 1952 Laura married Clayton Jantz. Clayton was the love of her life, and they spent 64 years together working on the farm, running the dairy and feeding baby calves. They were blessed with one son, Byron.

Laura was a member of New Hopedale Mennonite Church. She served as Sunday School teacher and treasurer of the Ladies’ Aid for many years. Laura enjoyed singing in the choir, a lady’s trio and lady’s sextet, The Expectations.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; her parents, Samuel F. and Marie Koehn Pjesky; brother, Alvin Pjesky and sister, Mildred Long.

She is survived by her son, Byron of Meno; sister, Lillie Reimer of Carmichael, California; the family dog, “Buster” and “Kitty” and a host of family and friends.

Memorials may be made to New Hopedale Mennonite Church through the funeral home.
