Karen Cronin

August 6, 1939 — August 19, 2016

Karen was born to James Ray Baskerville and Martha Virginia (Young) Baskerville on August 6, 1939, in Enid, Oklahoma. As an infant, she moved to Canada with her parents, returning to Oklahoma when she was seven. She was raised in Carmen, Oklahoma and graduated from Carmen High School in 1957, shortly after marrying Scottie D. Cronin on April 29, 1957. Karen and Scottie had two daughters, Robin Rae (Cronin) Berry and husband Danny of Derby, Kansas, and Connie D. Cronin of Herndon, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jayme Raye Ellison and Joshua Scott Ellison; and six great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; daughters; grand and great-grand children; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She departed this world on August 19th at her home in Reeds Spring, Missouri after a protracted illness.

Karen often said that she had a wonderful childhood, growing up in Carmen. She was a dedicated and proud leader of two girl scout troops for many years, watching and guiding her girls and dozens of others to grow into confident and capable young ladies. Karen graduated from nursing school in 1973 and worked as an LPN for several years in Wichita hospitals, taking care of babies in the neonatal intensive care as well as senior citizens.

Her 59 years of marriage to Scottie was a point of great pride as were her daughters and their achievements. Her family thrived due to her enduring and loving support. Scottie and Karen retired to Missouri in 1992, having purchased their lakefront home several years earlier. Karen fondly reflected on her memories with family and friends, enduring relationships, and her full life.
