John Wayne Albright

June 19, 1952 — September 27, 2025

John Wayne Albright, 73, of Hazelton, Kansas, passed away on September 27, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas after fighting a short five months against cancer.

John was born on June 19, 1952, in Hardtner, Kansas, to Eva and Bud Albright. He was raised in the Hazelton/Kiowa area and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1970. He went on to earn his degree in Special Education from Fort Hays State University—a career path that reflected his compassion and dedication to helping others.

John began his teaching career in Ulysses, Kansas, before settling in Dodge City, where he spent the majority of his career shaping young minds as a special education teacher. He retired in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of care, patience, and the countless students whose lives he touched.

In 1981, John married the love of his life, Ralora, and together they built a beautiful life. They welcomed their first daughter, Sarah, in 1982, and their second daughter, Miranda, in 1986. John was a devoted and loving father, always present and supportive in his daughters' lives. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren—Jesse and Kynslee—whom he adored deeply.

Summers often found John back in the fields, helping his father and brother with harvest—a tradition and responsibility he cherished. His commitment to family, friends, and community was steadfast and sincere. Whether you knew him as a teacher, friend, brother, father, or grandfather, John left an impression of kindness, strength, and warmth.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Bud Albright; his ex-wife, Ralora; and his beloved daughter, Sarah.

He is survived by his daughter, Miranda Albright (Stephen Cantu) of Dodge City; his brother, Bob Albright (Jeannie) of Hazelton, Kansas; nephews Michael Albright (Danette) of Texas, and Christopher Albright (Jayme) of North Dakota; grandchildren Jesse Lopez, Kynslee Cantu, Alyjah Maciel, and Austin Maciel; as well as a great niece and nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and former students.

John Wayne Albright’s life was one of service, love, and quiet strength. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
