Cherokee-Funeral service for Jackie Lee Myers will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cherokee Friends Church where he was an active member. Pastor Joe Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Jackie was born January 19, 1949 in Alva, Oklahoma to Bethel and Marthesia Myers. He passed unexpectedly on March 16, 2016, at the age of 67, from an abdominal aneurysm.

Jackie attended Cherokee Public School System and graduated with the class of 1967. While in high school, he excelled in sports, participating in football, basketball and especially in track where he set a number of high jump records around the state. He set the high jump record at the Cherokee track meet that lasted for over 30 years before being broken.

Jackie attended one year of college before joining the U.S. Navy where he was stationed off the coast of Vietnam while serving on the USS Waddell.

He is survived by his daughter, Amber Smith, her husband, Aaron and grandson, Ethan of Ponca City; his brother, Monty Myers and wife, Dottie of Fresno, California; his brother, Randy Myers and wife, Mary Catherine of Las Vegas, Nevada; his niece, Kimmy Dotterer and her husband, Tim and sons, Tate and Nickson of Norman; his nephew, Greg Myers and wife, Sheena and son, Keaton of Elk City.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shay Leigh; his wife, Trina and by his parents, Bethel and Marthesia Myers.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Friends Church of Cherokee through the funeral home.
