Jack was born to Ruby Weidner Fields and Carl J. Fields at their home in Gage, Oklahoma on December 24, 1935 and passed away early January 4, 2016 at his home in Corona, California. Jack grew up in Gage, Oklahoma, attended school there and graduated with the class of 1954. He attended Northwestern State College, Oklahoma A & M, graduating from Oklahoma State University with the winter class of 1959. He began his teaching career at Woodward High School that January, teaching math and biology. During college and during his tenure at WHS he spent his summers as a seasonal National Park Ranger at the Badlands National Park in South Dakota and Rocky Mountain National Park at Grand Lake, Colorado entrance.
He met his wife, Mary Louise Page at Oklahoma State University in 1958. They were married June 25, 1961 in Jet, Oklahoma. They spent their summers enjoying Rocky Mountain National Park until Jack was accepted for a National Science Foundation Scholarship to further his education at a Summer Seminar in Alva, Oklahoma.
Jack and Mary left Oklahoma to teach at the Corona-Norco Unified School District in 1966. They taught at CNUSD until their retirements. Jack taught for 32 years. Jack and Mary loved traveling and camping with their two sons graduating from the back of a pick-up to a motor home. After retirement Jack enjoyed going back to Jet and farming with Mary's cousin Earnest Page during the spring-fall season on their farms in the Jet area.
Jack served as a deacon at the Corona Church of Christ and his greatest joy was seeing to the certification of the Corona Bible Institute as a Satellite School of Sunset International Bible Institute located at Lubbock, Texas. He had a great joy and love for teaching the adult bible classes at Corona and then at Palm Springs during their days at Sky Valley. While working with the Satellite School in Lubbock he became acquainted with the Lubbock Christian University travelers and his family enjoyed cruising and bus trips with Christians from Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of 54 years; son, Douglas and wife, Kathleen of Katy, Texas and Derek of the home in Corona. He was also loved and survived by three grandchildren, Kelly Fields of Plano, Texas, Kadie Fields of Magnolia, Texas and Glenn Fields of Katy, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Fields and his mother, Ruby McIlroy.
Graveside service for Jackie will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet.
