Gregory Lee Lorenz

January 11, 1948 — February 27, 2026

Okeene, Oklahoma

Gregory Lee Lorenz, 78, was born on January 11, 1948, to Verne and Mary Lorenz. In the early morning hours of February 27, 2026, at 12:45 a.m., Greg passed peacefully at his home, with his daughter and son by his side surrounded by love, just as he had spent his life surrounded by family.

Greg was a lifelong resident of Okeene, Oklahoma, a small town that shaped his character and held his heart from beginning to end. He attended Okeene Elementary and Okeene High School, where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime. As a young man, he played football, participated in FFA, and proudly became a Wheat State Champion. He graduated in 1966, stepping into adulthood with quiet determination and the strong values that would guide him for the rest of his life.

Soon after graduation, Greg enlisted in the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. He served with humility and pride, never seeking recognition simply doing what he believed was right.

When his service ended, Greg returned home to the life he loved most. He worked alongside his family at Lorenz OK Seed, helping at the feed store while raising cattle and planting and harvesting wheat. The land taught him patience, resilience, and faith lessons he carried not only into his work but into his role as a father, brother, and friend. Greg was never afraid of hard work. Long days and tired hands were simply part of loving and providing for the people who meant everything to him.

Later in life, Greg found himself drawn to the open road, spending many years driving a semi-truck across the United States. Mile after mile, state after state, he carried with him quiet strength and independence. The road gave him time to think, time to reflect, and stories that only a life fully lived could create. He also worked for a time on a pipeline in Cortez, Colorado, continuing to live a life defined by perseverance and dedication.

Greg’s greatest pride was never found in work or accomplishments it was found in his family. He was a man who loved deeply, even when he didn’t always say the words. His love showed in the way he worked tirelessly, the way he showed up when it mattered, and the way his presence made others feel safe and cared for. He was steady when life felt uncertain, strong when others needed strength, and constant in a world that often changes too quickly.

Those who knew Greg knew he was a man of few words but had a great heart, someone whose love was felt more than spoken. The lessons he leaves behind are written not only in memories, but in the lives he helped shape, the values he passed down, and the quiet example he set every single day.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Verne Lorenz; his mother, Mary Lorenz and his brother, Gary Lorenz. Though their loss weighed heavily on him, there is comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Misty Lorenz and her children, Reagon Fowler, Douglas Hudnall and Samantha Hudnall; his son, Kyle Lorenz and wife, Susie Lorenz, along with their children, Austin and Derrek Lorenz. He is also survived by his brother, Freddie Lorenz and wife, Cathy Lorenz and family members, Travis and Todd Lorenz; his brother, Mark Lorenz and wife, Patricia and son, Beau Lorenz; his sister, Linda Lorenz and her son, Zachary Jackson; as well as Tonya Nault, Kim Long, Kristie Colvard, Branda Demoss, Bobby Lorenz and their families all who carry pieces of Greg’s story within their own live.

Greg leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, humility, and unconditional love. Though his hands are now still and his voice quiet, his presence will live on in every lesson taught, every story shared, and every moment his family remembers the man who helped shape their lives.

The world feels a little quieter without him, but heaven has gained a hardworking soul finally at rest.

Closing Tribute

Today we do not just say goodbye to Greg we say goodbye to a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a man whose strength quietly shaped the lives around him. The chair he sat in will feel empty, the roads he once traveled will seem a little longer, and the stories we wish we could tell him one more time will live on in our hearts.

Though we were not ready to let him go, love sometimes means trusting that rest has finally come after a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice. Greg spent his life taking care of others, and now he is at peace free from pain, reunited with those who went before him.

We will hear him in the laughter of his grandchildren, see him in the fields at harvest, and feel him in the quiet moments when memories return without warning. The hands that worked so hard may now be still, but the love they built will continue for generations.

While our hearts ache today, we hold onto this truth: a man is never truly gone as long as his name is spoken, his lessons are remembered, and his love continues to guide those he leaves behind.

So, we do not say farewell only until we meet again.
