Gregory Allen Keith, a beloved pastor in the United Methodist Church, was born on April 25, 1955, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on October 14, 2025. Greg's life was marked not only by his dedication to his faith but also by his deep love for his family and community.
In 1974, Greg married Phyllis Boguski at the Okmulgee United Methodist Church, beginning a partnership that spanned over five decades. Together, they created a warm home in Okmulgee before Greg received his calling to ministry in 1993, which led them to Tyrone. Throughout his pastoral career, he held ministerial roles at Tyrone United Methodist Church, Union Center United Methodist Church, Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church in Goodwell, Cheyenne United Methodist Church in Cheyenne, and Custer City United Methodist Church and Independence United Methodist Church, until his retirement in September 2023. After retiring, Greg and Phyllis moved to Cherokee, Oklahoma, to be closer to their family.
Greg had the profound privilege of officiating the weddings of all his children and baptizing his cherished grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Keith; mother, Cogee Keith; sisters, Kathy Guthrie and Lisa Lewis and her husband Poncho; children Joshua Keith, Elizabeth Devorce and her husband Jabari, Katie Alvidrez and her husband Adrian, and Matthew Keith and his wife Heather; grandchildren Jordan Alvidrez, Grayson Keith, Palmer Keith, Lakyn Alvidrez, Madelyn Keith, and Hunter Keith.
A man of wide-ranging interests, Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing, a passion that often brought him closer to nature. He was an enthusiastic traveler, delighting in visits to national parks and taking cruises, including a memorable trip to Alaska. His love for his grandchildren extended to watching them play sports and being actively involved in their lives. Gregory also dedicated time to assisting local farmers with harvests and contributed his efforts to the Unlimited Outdoor Adventures youth hunt each year.
Greg is preceded in death by his father, Walter Keith, and his Aunt Billie Sterner. His legacy of faith, love, and community service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
