Freda Kretchmar

Freda was born to parents, Fred and Luella Unbehauen, on November 7, 1935, on a farm north of Medford, Oklahoma and passed from this life on August 23, 2026.

Freda graduated from Medford high school in 1952. Freda attended business school in Oklahoma City, OK and at the age of 18 Freda worked at a furniture sales company as a bookkeeper.  Freda married the love her life, Eugene W. Kretchmar, on November 12, 1955. Together they had five children and made their first home northwest of Medford and later built their home in town. Freda and Eugene were both exceptionally proud of the home and family they built together.  Freda and Eugene spent the next 46 years of their lives together. Together they farmed, built a successful cable television business, and had a family-owned fitness and exercise center in Medford, OK.

Freda was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and a founding member of the Busy Mom’s club. Freda was also a caregiver for a young lady for many years.  Freda especially enjoyed family gatherings and cooking Sunday dinner for her family. Freda loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their sports and activities. Freda loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, wheel of fortune, and deal or no deal on TV.

Freda is survived by two sons, Mark Alan and Michael Scott and wife, RexAnn all of Medford, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jacob Kretchmar, Michael Kretchmar and wife, Marcie, and Holly Dunkin and husband, Jared; seven-great grandchildren, Kylee Kretchmar, Christopher Kretchmar, Benjamin Kretchmar, Theodore (Teddy) Kretchmar, Jace Dunkin, Madyson Dunkin, and Mackynze Dunkin.

Freda is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Kretchmar; daughter, Karla Renee Kretchmar; son, Max Eugene Kretchmar and son, Greg L. Kretchmar; granddaughter, Caitlin Marie Kretchmar; brother, J.D. Unbehauen and wife, Margery and parents, Fed and Luella Unbehauen.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Cemetery through the funeral home.

Freda was a beautiful soul, sweet spirit, loved by all, she will live in our hearts forever. We are all better people for her being a part of our lives and we are so blessed to be a part of her life. Without question her family loved her deeply; she will be missed.
