Florene Hachenberg

The funeral for Florene (Pekrul) Hachenberg, 90, who died at Claremore Nursing Home, will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Goltry Congregational Church.  The Rev. Florene was born January 1, 1928 in Goltry to Gus and Anna Streich Pekrul and passed from this life Wednesday, June 13, 2018.  She attended Ringwood and Goltry schools and earned Bachelor and Master Degrees from NWOSU in Alva.  There she met Dean Hachenberg and they were married on November 23, 1949 in Goltry.  She taught in various schools in Oklahoma and Kansas before retiring in 1987 to live in Augusta, Kansas.  During that time, she and Dean enjoyed traveling with their trailer from Florida to Oregon, Texas to Montana. They moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 2002 to be near their daughter. She returned to Tulsa in 2015.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donita and Bruce Balfour of Catoosa; granddaughter, Andrea Balfour of Seattle, Washington; nephews, Robert Thompson, Larry Thompson, and Don Pekrul and nieces, Judy Bemis and Nancy Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
