Florence lived in Jet, Oklahoma where she went to Jet High School. When her parents Pete and Mary Harris decided to move to Lakin, Kansas in 1943, Florence, at fifteen, decided to make her life in Jet to be near her grandparents, Ida and Pearl Hopkins.

Florence loved being a farmer’s wife driving the wheat truck, tractor, and bringing meals to the harvest field and anything that involved the farming life. She also enjoyed sewing, planting flowers, ceramics and decorative painting.
She was an active member of First Christian Church in Jet and loved organizing meals for church events. With a heart of service, she worked at the nursing homes in Helena and Cherokee and at Enid State School where she cared and loved the children.
