Duane Leroy Waugh was born May 15, 1943 in Tulsa to Melvin and Margaret Dielman Waugh and passed away May 26, 2018 in Alva. Duane was raised in Ashland, Kansas and graduated from Ashland High School in 1961 and continued his education for a semester at Pittsburgh State University.  He moved to Kansas City and worked in a packing plant before moving to Buffalo, Oklahoma to work for L & W Oilfield Service, which was the beginning of his lifelong career.   It was in Buffalo where he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Ashlock, and they resided there until he was drafted into the Army in 1966.  They moved to Ft. Hood, Texas during his enlistment, where they welcomed their first son, Jeffrey.  After being discharged, Duane worked with Cleary Petroleum in Hennessey, where they added another son, Charles to the family.  He was shortly relocated to Cherokee where they made their forever home.  Through the years Duane has worked in every area of the oilfield industry and has enjoyed farming, raising cattle, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Jeff and wife, Gina and Charley of Cherokee; sister, Reta Mae Young; brother, Keith Waugh and wife, Caroline; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
