Dorothy Evelyn Rapp was born on April 18, 1935 and passed from this life at the age of 90 on August 3, 2025. She moved to Wakita, Oklahoma when she was in the sixth grade. She participated in basketball and band and graduated a Wakita Warrior in 1954. The day after she graduated, she married the love of her life, Bill D. Rapp. They were married 52 years and out of that union came four children, eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked as a CNA/Recreational Therapist at CHC in Wakita for 16 years and was also an EMT with the fire department for 11 years. Not only was she a busy mom and nana, she was active in her community.
Dorothy was a member of Goodwill of OHCE, serving in many offices at the local and county levels. She belonged to the Enid Quilt Guild and Grant County Quilt Guild. She was a charter member of PEO (Beta Sigma Phi), serving in all local chapter offices and was chosen as woman of the year. Dorothy was a woman of many talents. She shared countless results of those talents with her family and friends through her sewing, quilting, crocheting and crafting projects.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Aline and Gene Wood; her husband, Bill D. Rapp; her brothers, Lester Wood, Robert Wood, Thomas Wood and granddaughter, Chelsea Dupy.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Wanda and Steve Dupy of Enid, David and Deborah Rapp of Ringwood, Byron and Marya Rapp of Hawley and Richard and Robyn Rapp of Hawley; grandchildren, Carissa and Dusty Crump, Cayla and Donnie Sanders, Trent and Tatum Dupy, Zachary and Deonte Langel, Dylan and Carol Rapp, Kelsey Rapp, Taylor Rapp, Bryce and Emily Rapp, Lexie and Kenny Schneider, Ryan and Matt Stogsdill and Russell and Morgan Rapp; great-grandchildren, Tenley Cowen, Lydia, Weston and Leighton Crump, Payson and Quinn Bynum, Savvy Sanders, Wells Dupy, Josie and Tucker Rapp, Leona Feuerborn, Caroline and Beiers Rapp, Case Schnieder, Maddox and Raleigh Stogsdill, Sloan and Fallon Rapp; sisters-in-law, Betty Carr, Aloma Lee Pracht, Anna Marie Schlitt and Mary Ellen Wood as well as extended family and friends.
Dorothy was loved and cherished and will be missed by many.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wakita Christian Church with burial at Wakita Cemetery.
