Donald Goforth

December 15, 1955 — February 11, 2016

Donald Gene Goforth was born in Okeene, OK on December 15, 1955, the second child to Betty Lou (Westfahl) and Durwood Floyd Goforth. He passed away on February 11, 2016 at the age of 60.

He was a 1974 graduate of Okeene High School, and also attended Vocational Technology School.

Donald married his wife Toni Moore of Canton, OK, on April 21, 1978. They lived in the Okeene area for four years before moving to Okarche, OK, where they lived for 19 years. Donald and Toni then moved back to Okeene area.

Donald enjoyed farming and raising Angus cattle. He loved spending time with his three children: Brandi DaNelle, Stephanie Gene, and Daniel Floyd; and his four grandchildren: Caleb and Kathryn Garrison, and Reagan and William Caldwell. Donald was looking forward to meeting his new grandson, Blayne Kristopher, who is due to arrive in April. As a family, they spent many days camping, fishing and water skiing.

Donald was very involved with Boy Scouts of America. When his son Daniel was old enough to be in cub scouts, he helped start up a Cub Scout Pack in Okarche. When the older brother of one of the cub scouts came up to him to ask how he could become involved in scouts, Donald checked with the boy scout council about the Lone Scout program. This was a program for a youth who had no active troop in their community. He became the scoutmaster for this boy, and before he knew it, they quickly became a Boy Scout Troop with 25 members. Donald, and wife Toni, were very active with the scouting program on a local level, as well as district and council levels. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, affiliated with Boy Scouts of America, and was a Vigil member of Ah-Ska Lodge 213. He took his troop on many high adventure outings, which included backpacking 78 miles in the mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and canoeing across the glacier lakes of Canada. Donald was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest honor awarded to an adult by Boy Scouts of America.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Durwood Floyd Goforth.

He is survived by his wife, Toni, of the home; two daughters, Brandi Garrison of Edmond, OK and Stephanie Caldwell of Delaware, OH; one son, Daniel Floyd Goforth and wife Shayla of Hilliard, OH; his mother, Betty Lou Goforth of Okeene; and numerous family and friends. A graveside service was held on Monday, February 15, 2016, 2 p.m. at the Homestead Cemetery

Memorials may be made to the Cimarron Boy Scout Council (located in Enid, OK) through the funeral home. Lanman Funeral Home, Okeene, is in charge of arrangements.
