Don Forrest

Goltry-Funeral service for Donald “Don” Lynn Forrest, 74, will be Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Helena First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Karoma Cemetery near Goltry. Viewing will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Don was born on March 10, 1943 to Harold (Bill) and Rosetta Forrest in Follett, Texas. Don passed away on January 4, 2018 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid. Don was raised in Vici and graduated Vici High School in 1961. He grew up in the First Christian Church in Vici and was baptized August 28, 1955. He served in the U.S. Army in 1968 before he was honorably discharged due to a previous injury. Don spent several years working hard in several different fields. In 1995, Don moved to Helena to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He worked at Sturgeon’s Corner until 2004. He spent his retired years being at the farm, enjoying the country views and watching sports. Don was an avid fan of the Timberlake Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Rosetta Forrest; sisters, Arlene Schamburg and Bonita Care; brother, Jim Forrest; brother-in-law, Skeet Schamburg and the love of his life, Evelyn Dudley.

Don is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Jackson and Darrell Eck of Goltry; grandchildren, Kimber, Kedric and Kashen Jackson and Slater and Kean Eck; step-daughter, Joy Weder and her children, LaShelle Myers, Shalimar Weder and Danon Weder, all of Woodward; sisters, Wilda Croft of Edmond, Belva Sutton and husband, Bud of Sharon, Cherri Cadwell and husband, Junior of Vici; brothers, Kenneth Forrest and wife, Sue of Woodward, Max Forrest and wife, Billie of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rex Forrest and wife, Dianne of Mount Pleasant,Texas; brother-in-law, Steve Care of Shattuck and many nieces, nephews and friends.
