Dixie Hamen

August 13, 1932 — August 11, 2017

Dixie Jean Hood was born on August 13, 1932 at the Hood
home place West of Aline, OK. She left this world on August 11, 2017;
just a few days shy of her 85th birthday. Dixie was the youngest of 10
children born to Frank and Alice May (Woods) Hood. Dixie grew up in
the Aline area and attended Aline-Cleo Schools. Dixie married Robert
Hill in 1951 and had 3 boys to that union. Bobby, Gerald and Delbert
Hill. Dixie worked at the Helena Nursing Home following her divorce
from Robert. Dixie later married Richard Hamen and was blessed to gain Richard’s three daughters Laurie, Angela and Cynthia Hamen and loved them as her own. During her marriage to Richard she was blessed to be a full-time homemaker.

Dixie loved bowling with the Hamm & Phillips bowling team. She enjoyed watching the horseraces and even had a horse named after her, “Dixie Jean”. She enjoyed watching her grandkids sporting events. She loved going to rodeos, concerts and square dancing. You
would find her on any given day enjoying an NBA or College basketball game on TV or just listening to CMT. Dixie lived in the Fairview Fellowship Home for the last 15 years of her life and loved it there. Dixie was adored by her family and many friends. She loved doing things for others. She will be greatly missed.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Alice May Hood. Siblings: Vola Kinney, Orley Hood, Lavern Stuck, Eldon Hood, Virginia Reed, Johnny Hood, Juanita Osbourn & Eula Burns. Children: Bobby Hill & Gerald Hill. Grandchild: Kelly Sue Nightengale.

She is survived by her sister Lula Andrews of Kansas. Son, Delbert Hill of Enid. Daughter in law Nita Hill of Bixby. Kelly and Laurie Nightengale of Cleo Springs. Angela Sloan of Elk City. Richard and Cynthia Schmidt of Cleo Springs. Grandchildren: Bryan & Tracy Bishop, Chad Reineke, Ethan Hill, Katelyn Hill, Brandon & Rachel Nightengale, Michael Sloan, Carter & Amanda Sloan Lee, Kristina Schmidt and Kolton Schmidt. Great grandchildren: Jordyn Bishop, Payton& McKayla Bishop, Rita, Solomon & Mark Bishop, Caden Reineke, Brooklyn Reineke, Avery Sloan, Easton Sloan, Jett Sloan, Wesley Nightengale, Katelyn Nightengale and Gracelyn Nightengale. Greatgreat grandchildren: Bentley Fisher and Hudson Fisher. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to Fairview Fellowship Home through Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena.
