Merlin (Daniel) Wallace was born January 4, 1957 at home in Major County, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Lois Fortner Wallace. He passed quietly at home surrounded by his family June 20, 2025 at the age of 68.
Daniel was the fourth son of eight children. His family moved around some until they settled on his Dad’s home place in rural Aline. He attended Helena-Goltry School where he graduated in 1976.
Daniel married his wife of 47 years, Lisa Cress in Derby, Kansas on June 3, 1978. They made their home in rural Aline, where they raised four children.
Daniel was a talented carpenter by trade. He worked many years with his Dad and brothers. At home his children knew he could fix anything with his bucket of bolts.
He was a member of the Followers of Christ Church since 1978. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved their hugs. He loved to feed and watch the birds He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughters, Julie (Augustus) Goad, Rachel (Austin) Hawk; sons, Brian (Rykki) Wallace, Kevin Wallace; two brothers, Stephen Wallace and Scott Wallace; two sisters, Diane (Jeff) McCollum and Cecilia Daugherty; sixteen Grandchildren; one great grandson; mother-in-law, Virginia Cress; many cousins; nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Philip; one sister, Lorraine; brother-in-law, Curt Daugherty; one grandson, Thomas; two sisters-in-law, Tammie Wallace and Debbie Wallace, and his father-in-law, Harry Cress.
Graveside service for Daniel will be Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Square Cedar Cemetery with Rev. Clayton Wallace officiating. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
