Dallas Myers

Goltry- Graveside service for Dallas will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Karoma Cemetery, Goltry.

Dallas was born one of nine children to Brian Myers and Bonnie Myers in Kingsport, Tennessee. After graduating high school in 1953, Dallas joined the National Guard, serving 4 months overseas in Korea. Dallas was honorably discharged March 1953. Dallas then joined the U.S. Airforce and was based in James Connally AFB in Waco Texas, Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas, and Vance AFB in
Enid Oklahoma. He was honorably discharged in May 1956.

While stationed at Vance AFB, he met Alice Marie Fenton. They married March 12, 1955. After his discharge from the Airforce, Dallas served several years as a Firefighter on Vance AFB. Afterwards, Dallas and Alice moved from Enid to Chicago for a short time where he drove an ambulance. They then moved to Goltry, Oklahoma and opened a gas station and hardware store.

Throughout the rest of his life Dallas worked for several different trucking and oilfield companies. Most recently retiring from Longhorn Services at the age of 81.

Dallas and Alice resided in Goltry until her death in 2007. He then moved to Cleo Springs to manage a saltwater disposal.

Dallas’s hobbies included riding his motorcycle, finding a game of cards, and playing the slots at the casino.

Dallas is survived by his son, Billy Myers of Goltry; daughters, Theresa Specht of Parks, Colorado, Linda Lawson of Enid and Bobbie Prentice of Drummond. Dallas has ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Dallas lived his last days at his granddaughter’s house where he passed away on March 22, 2017 to lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; brothers, Robert, Terry, Wayne, Bill and Richard; sisters, Edna, Oga and Jean.
