Connie Jo “Bierig” Wood

August 8, 1968 – February 23, 2026

Connie Jo “Bierig” Wood was born on August 8, 1968, in Okeene, Oklahoma, to Joe Lee and Beverly Bierig. She passed away on February 23, 2026.

Connie was raised on the family farm north of Okeene, where she attended Okeene Public Schools and graduated in 1986. During her school years, she was actively involved in food nutrition, gave motivational speeches, and showed livestock through 4-H. Connie was a devoted Christian and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Okeene. She continued her education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, pursuing a teaching degree. In 1986, Connie was inducted into the Oklahoma State 4-H Hall of Fame and was the National 4-H Foods and Nutrition winner.

In 1988, Connie left NWOSU and opened a bakery in Enid, Oklahoma. She followed her passion for designing and decorating cakes for more than 30 years.

In August of 1998, Connie married the love of her life, John Wood Jr. Together they settled at Crystal Lakes in Ames, Oklahoma, where they raised their family. Connie devoted most of her life to being a loving wife and stay-at-home mother, raising five children. She cherished time spent with family and was known as a caring, giving, and devoted mother. Connie attended Ames Baptist Church, where she was active in church activities and especially loved to sing.

In September of 2017, Connie discovered a new joy in life—being a grandmother. Known lovingly as “Mimi,” she was blessed over the years with seven grandchildren. Spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren were among Connie’s greatest passions.

In 2019, John and Connie opened Synergy Energy Supply in Fairview, Oklahoma, where Connie served as the office manager.

Connie is survived by her husband, John Wood Jr. of Fairview, Oklahoma; children, Jessica Jo and Jess Fettke of Ringwood, Oklahoma; Jessica and Brad Davis of Lahoma, Oklahoma; Aaron and Sierra Blundell of Hunter, Oklahoma; Katie Blundell of Mustang, Oklahoma; and John Allen Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her parents, Joe Lee and Beverly Bierig of Enid, Oklahoma; her sister, Tammie, and brother-in-law Scott Conaway of Ringwood, Oklahoma; and her grandchildren, Jo Lee, Hadyn, Lola, Jake, Hadley and Kelly, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Aunt Wanda “NuNu” Bierig and her granddaughter Harper, as well as her beloved bulldog, Ellie.

Funeral services will be held on March 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mennonite Brethren Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc of Okeene.

In lieu of flowers, a Connie Wood Memorial Fund has been established at Fairview Savings & Loan to create ‘Mimi accounts’ for the grandchildren.
