Collene Carol (Shelite) Weber, a beloved resident of Aline, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old. Collene was born on June 24, 1941, near Burlington, to E.V. and Dorothy Leora Shelite. She grew up in the west Aline area and was the only girl among six siblings. Collene and her family were active members of the Aline United Methodist Church.
During her school years, Collene's warm personality and community spirit led her to be crowned the FFA Sweetheart and Miss Aline in 1958. She was also a passionate basketball player and showed dedication to her studies. Collene cherished memories of helping her mother prepare meals for the summer workers during melon season.
On August 14, 1959, Collene united in marriage with the love of her life, Lawrence Weber. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Donita, and a son, named Mike. Collene's kindness shined as she worked at Goodno's Store, where she prepared sandwiches and delivered groceries to the elderly in the community. Her dedication to serving others extended to her friends and neighbors, making her a beloved figure in her hometown.
Collene's heart overflowed with love for her family. She delighted in attending her children's and grandchildren's activities, creating a legacy of support and encouragement. Her passion for music led her to sing in the church choir. She was an active member of the Women's Guild and the FFA Mother's Club.
Collene is preceded in death by her parents, E.V. and Dorothy Leora Shelite, as well as three brothers, Bob Shelite, Leonard "Buck" Shelite, and Monty Shelite.
She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories for her beloved husband, Lawrence Weber, who stood by her side throughout their journey. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Stephanie Pullan and husband, Randy of Aline; granddaughter, Kayla Pullan of Edmond; grandson, Ryan Pullan and wife, Lexie of Cherokee; great-grandchildren, Paxtyn and Rylee Pullan of Cherokee; daughter, Donita Frech and husband, Paul of Bixby; grandson, Cody Frech and wife, Emily of Broken Arrow; great-grandchildren, Sophie Chastain and Allison Frech of Broken Arrow; granddaughter, Cortney Frech of Bixby; son, Mike Weber and wife, Jeannie of Taloga; granddaughter, Connie Smith and husband, Rhett of Taloga; great-granddaughter, Raylynn Shoaf and husband, Brycen of Taloga; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Traycen Shoaf of Taloga; granddaughter, Keri Whitley and husband, Brandon of Vici; great-granddaughter, Darcy Whitley of Vici; great-great-granddaughter, Emersyn Whitley of Vici. She is also survived by her two brothers, Larry Shelite and Gary Shelite, along with numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
Collene will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her devotion to family, and her unwavering commitment to her community. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love and memories she shared will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Funeral service for Collene will be Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Aline United Methodist Church.
