Beverly Williams

February 7, 1938 — July 9, 2019

Kiowa

Beverly Faye Curran Williams was born February 7, 1938 to Orville and Mildred Curran in Cherokee, Oklahoma and passed from this world to join her heavenly Father on July 9, 2019 at the age of 81 years.  On June 20, 1955 she married Lonnie Williams.  To this union five children were born.  Bev and Lonnie celebrated 43 years of marriage together.  Bev loved to bake for her family, with ONE twist  -  she never used measuring cups or spoons!  Bev was not afraid to get down and dirty!  She loved being outdoors, and for many years she planted and harvested a huge garden, canning ‘every little thing’ with her little grandkid helpers and neighbor children.  In her spare time, Bev was co-director and ran calls for the Kiowa Ambulance Service, where she was an EMT and Instructor/Coordinator.  Bev taught many EMT classes.  Some of her students still serve on the local EMS today.  One lifetime was NOT enough for Bev.  She was an avid reader, bookkeeper for the family mechanic shop, ran a mowing service, sang duet at local church services and community events (her alto to sister, Doris’ soprano), and passed out sale bills for Spicer Auction.  If you knew Bev very well, you were aware of her severe dislike for wearing shoes and anyone touching her elbows!!  Bev looked in the face of death in 2005, when she suffered a massive stroke.  In traditional Bev style, she not only survived, but moved back home where she lived alone until 2012, when she moved to the Kiowa Manor family.  She remained there until her death.  Bev’s favorite passion and pastimes centered around being together with her grandkids and great grandkids.  She taught them to make many crafts and bake many loaves of her famous breads.  Bev relished in the look of joy on the faces of the Kiowa town kids who visited year after year on Halloween to be treated with Bev’s very best ever Popcorn Balls!

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Mildred Curran; her husband, Lonnie, and one son, Monty B.

She is survived by her brother, Bud Curran and wife, Virgie; sister, Doris Hermon and husband, Edward Lynn; son, Marty R. Williams; daughter-in-law, Cindra and three other children; grandchildren, Kody Williams and wife, Latisha, Shelby Nielsen and husband, Brian, Casey Williams and wife, Clarissa, Brian WIliams, Nathan Williams, and Cameron Hilton; five great granddaughters, Rose, BrayLynn, Tinley, Tucker, Ashtyn, and one more granddaughter ( scheduled to arrive in September); plus five other grandsons; many nieces, and nephews.

Service for Bev will be Friday, July 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Kiowa Grace Bible Church.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa.  Viewing will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  www.lanmanmemorials.com  Facebook:  Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
