Barbara Ann Sawyer, age 71, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 23, 2025.
Barbara was born on April 20,1954, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Shirley and Marvin Sawyer. Barbara grew up in a loving home alongside her brother, Darrell Sawyer.
She graduated from Medford High School and later attended Oklahoma State University.
Barbara married Scott Keller, and together they became the proud parents of two sons, Brandon and Robbie Keller. She deeply cherished her seven grandchildren, Trystin Slater, Brayden Keller, Caden Keller, Lauryn Keller, Gracey Keller, Kylie Keller, and Brylee Keller and her three great-grandchildren, Paisley Slater, Easton Slater, Mason Slater each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Barbara later remarried in 2017 to Kara Sawyer. They shared their life together with Kara and her daughter, Raeann in Guthrie, Oklahoma, until 2024.
For more than 50 years, Barbara devoted herself to working hard and caring for others. Her true legacy is one of generosity, compassion, and the quiet, steady teaching of unconditional love through her own actions.
Barbara inspired generations of young people during her years as the youth director at the United Methodist Church in Medford. She was known as one of the most impactful and present youth leaders of the late 1970s and early 1980s, sharing her kindness, creativity, and her deep love for the Bible and for the Lord.
Barbara also had a passion for entrepreneurship. She loved building teams, launching new ventures, and bringing ideas to life through strategy and creativity. At age 67, she began her final business venture, “Yum Yum Junction,” sharing the joy of ice cream with the Guthrie community. She sold the business at age 69.
After retiring, she spent precious time with her family and enjoyed cheering for OSU football. Barbara’s smile lit every room she entered, and her love for her family was the heartbeat of her home. Her laughter, warmth, and compassion touched all who knew her.
A memorial service for Barbara Ann Sawyer will be held at the Methodist Church in Medford, Oklahoma, on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her laughter and love will remain in our hearts forever.
