A.D. Devore

Jet- Graveside service for A.D. DeVore will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet. Viewing will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A.D. was born on May 26, 1932 in Hugo, Colorado to Austin DeVore and Jessie Stull DeVore and passed from this life on July 17, 2017 in Enid. He married Elsie Lee Fischer in 1953. A.D. served in the United States Army, serving a tour in Japan and then three years in Korea. He has lived in Jet since 1960. A.D. started working at Alfalfa Electric in Cherokee in 1964, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and was a founding member of the Nescatunga Fire Department. He loved to hunt, fish and ride motorcycles. A.D.’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Riding for Him Cowboy Church in Byron. A.D. was chaplain for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and traveled to Haiti twice on mission trips.

Survivors of A.D. include his wife of 63½ years, Elsie Lee DeVore; son, Murray DeVore and wife, Jeannette and grandson, Joseph DeVore and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded A.D. in death are his parents, Austin and Jessie DeVore; brothers, Frank DeVore, Murel DeVore, Harlan DeVore and Ray DeVore; sister, Fern Schooler

Memorials may be given to Nescatunga Fire Department through the funeral home.
