Effie Misak

July 16, 1925 — December 9, 2019

Medford

Effie Blanch (Stinson) Misak was born about sundown on July 16, 1925, to Orval James Stinson and Heike (Luinstra) Stinson on a farm 2 miles north and 2 miles east of Laverne, in Harper County, Oklahoma.  Her mother had just finished a full day of walking while cultivating corn.  Effie passed from her earthly life at the age of 94 years at the Attica Kansas Long Term Care Facility on December 9, 2019, with her family by her side.

At the age of eight she went to live with her paternal grandmother and uncle, as a helpmate to her grandmother around the house and on the farm.  She attended school in Rosston, Oklahoma, through 2 weeks of her Sophmore year when WWII began, and she had to quit school in order to work full-time on the family farm with chores and milking as there were no men available to hire.  After the war she left to attend Paulie’s Beauty Academy in Enid, Oklahoma, where she met Harold Clayton Cummins.  They were later married on November 12, 1947, and to this union one daughter was born, Effie Patricia (Cummins) Davis.  After their marriage, they moved to Medford, Oklahoma, and Effie went to work as a beautician for Eleanor Arterburn in February of 1948.  In July of 1949, Effie purchased the shop and became her own boss for over 65 years serving the Medford community.

On July 6, 1963, she married Felix Otto Misak in Kimball, Nebraska, during wheat harvest.  To this union, one son was born, Charles Lee Misak.

Effie was a generous and efficient business woman and a devout Christian who was very active within her church community.  She was an active member of Eastern Star, Red Bud OHCE Club, Miriam Circle, and the VFW.

She was predeceased in death by her husbands; parents; one sister; two brothers; one step-son; one step‑daughter; two step grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Effie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Davis (Dennis) of Cheney, Kansas; son, Charles Lee Misak (Terri) of Owasso, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Felisa Ann Jorgensen (Neal) of Kingman, Kansas, and Holly DeAnn Noble (Jason) of Attica, Kansas; grandsons, Tyson David Misak (Tori) of Casper, Wyoming; Trent Lee Misak (Tiffany) of Enid, Oklahoma, and Tanner James Misak of Weatherford, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Kevin Misak and Julie Williamson of Dallas, Texas, Cory Misak; thirteen  great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren with one on the way; one brother, Ray O. Stinson (Jetta) of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Leatha Boston and Marie Turner, both of Buffalo, Oklahoma. .
